We decided to do this blog because we love to share things that we are interested in, things that we love and things that may help or educate others. We were going to do a blog that focused on one topic but that’s what the majority of blogs have done already. Yeah, we like to be different. Because of wanting to be different we decided to do a blog that has a mixture of topics.
A little bit of this and a little bit of that. This is the statement that created the blog’s name Our Hodgepodge life. For those that don’t know, hodgepodge mean a mixture of things. Originally meant to describe stew that has multiple different ingredients. Modern times we use hodgepodge as a term to describe a mixture of things for anything.
Why the mixture of topics? Well, we want to reach out to different types of people and all the different interests everyone has out there. If we just wrote about one topic what fun would that be both for us and our followers? I get bored easy doing the same thing all the time so if I had a blog that posted about the same topic day after day I would stop coming to my own blog – no joke!

Will everyone like every topic we write about, we really hope they do. But, like we all know, not everyone can be pleased. And, this is where ideas come from. If there is a topic you would like to see us post about, contact us. Seriously. We might not have thought of writing on the topic you would like to see. Or, we might have thought of it but thought that no one would want to read about it or even care. Let us know.
Now, you’re probably thinking, “I’m seeing we, we’re, us”. Who are we? We are a wife and husband team. My name is Kelly and hubby’s name is Rich. I do most of the writing and posting and I also maintain the site. Hubby will be doing some writing and posting but his main job is as the photographer and videographer.
We both share a passion for food. Rich loves savory cooking where I love baking. We both enjoy being in the kitchen together. I think our food tastes better when we both have our fingers in the creation.
We have many other passions and likes. Nature is a huge love for our family. Animals, trees, gardens, etc. We love it all. You’ll be sure to see many posts regarding nature.
Another area we love is DIY. We like to be frugal, when possible, so DIY was right up our alley. Also, hubby comes from a construction background and because of this background, he pretty much knows how to do most DIY that falls into the construction category.
We have been married for 13 wonderful years and we are parents of a beautiful teenage girl. They grow up so quickly don’t they? She’s an only child but she has been quite happy about that. Right now her interests are boy bands and photography. Maybe we’ll have some of her photo contributions on here?
